I'm crushed, good friend buys honda TRX450
My buddy from Kerrville called me today to see what is happening. He dropped a bomb on me. He bought the new 04 TRX 450 and has already sold the yammaha 450. LOL I give him a month before he buys another yamaha 450. I am talking about rodsquad. As we all know he changes quads like socks. He told me he got tired of looking at the red frame on the yamaha. There is a upside to all this. I will shortly get to ride the new Honda and then i can bash first hand. lol

No he has not taken deliverey yet. He told me the day that he will get it. ( he knows somebody) He did tell me that his friend has one in the shop in Arizona doing some work for honda.
BTW i am not brand loyal. I have a honda and a kawasiki in the garage.
learningtofly- I do not anticipate many to rush and buy a new honda that just bought the yamaha. To big of a hit in the wallet. My friend ROD will keep the honda a month and then buy another yamaha 450. It is kind of like test riding except he writes the check first. LOL Rod spent over 20k last year building a custom CRF450 quad and dumped it in a hurry. Sweet quad and no power

14 mins- thanks for the info. I plan on giving the YFZ a test drive before I make my final decision. Worst case scenario, I'm out a $100 deposit on the Honda. The problem is that test driving either machine will be very limited. Both dealers have a small area that you can do a few laps, but it's not sufficient to get any idea of what the machine is capable of. If it scares the crap out of me, I may have to buy it.
Just sitting on the YFZ, the ergonomics haven't really felt right. They just seem a little to cramped, the size feels very much like that of a 300ex. This is great for a lot of riders who are shorter than 5'10 with small to medium builds (150-175). Unfortunately, I don't fall into that category. I am curious however, if over time I would become accustomed to the ergonomics. Maybe I just need to stretch more.

Sounds like this guy's got money to burn. 14min, if he had 20k+ into a crf450 based quad there is NO REASON why it shouldn't have FLEW! I saw a crf450 quad with $18,000 stuck into it run at a MX track and it was FAST FAST!! It started on the first kick and it had a FULL Walsh chassis set up....I don't know what was done to the motor but my uncle said there wasn't a whole lot done and it was REALLY fast. So I don't really know why this friend of yours quad was slow!?
