Default 2004 Grizzly Noise

I have a 2004 Grizzly with 8 hrs on it, eveything is great except I hear a noise like a bell, or rattle. It happens from 5 mph on up and seems to go away at higher speeds, or maybe the exhaust drowns it out. Anybody else have this experience.

Well, what I have found is that the output shaft on the transmission that connects to the front differential is making the rattling sound. There seems to be some slack in the output shaft assembly. Is this normal for this kind of play. The noise seems to be more pronounced at times, its almost like the metal housing where the cv boot is attached may be loose. Or the output shaft bearing has too much play or something.

I haven't heard this on my 02. Then again, I may not have noticed it

Default 2004 Grizzly Noise

I have an 05 and have about 30 miles on it. I noticed this noise also. I was poking around with a screwdriver and found it was a slack noise right at the engine where the front drive shaft comes out. I called my dealer and he said spray some grease in btw the join.

Linerider2 I was wondering if you did anything to yours or is it just normal ?????

Thanks
Steve

I found that looseness on the front of my 04 griz also , I heard some type of noise up front and grabbed the front driveshaft and noticed it was very loose I went straight to the dealer and grabbed the same shaft on the new one 04 also, same thing . I have over 1000 mi. and have not had a problem ... yet...

For all you new Grizzly owners, that klunking noise is common. If you really want to hear it, try riding on a motocross track. When breaking going down hill and over bumps you will hear it the most. I don't know the praticulars, but the Griz has some built in slack to keep something from binding up. It's one of those things you just have to live with.

This is good information, I was about ready to bring my 05 Grizzly to have that noise checked on. Ive noticed it while decelerating over bumps at lower speeds.

i have a noise that bothered me on my kodiak too , i finally found it . it was the shifter rod rattling , when i held it with my fingers it quit . i put some grease on each end and it stopped rattling , it sounded like something loose in the front left side of the engine , scared me to death at first . i think the kodiak has the same style shift linkage under the left side cover , big gold rod .
