Sparks 64mph Raptor Glamis
#1
The family and I just returned from Glamis today and it was another fun 4 days! Did anyone else see the Sparks Raptor run 64mph up Olds on Thursday? I saw the radar number with my own eyes, but did not get to talk to the couple of guys with the bike. After they left someone said this was a bike built to win the stock bore class at the four stroke wars event and that it was on gas? It sure moved like a rocket sled up that hill. A number of people were around the bike as it was shockingly fast.
Those people really like to dominate the sand. We had a great week and people were still piling in as we headed back to San Diego.

I've heard a rumor that SPARKS is bringing a bike to win in EVERY class. Looks like everyone else will be fighting for second place.

In karting, anyone can buy a national level motor. In other words I can purchase the same blueprinted motor for my kart that a top pro can. You don't see the engine builder's kid running something that the others can't.

Wow! Too bad he won't build the same machines for his "customers". Isn't that the business he's in? Sounds like a conflict of interest to me... "Say curtis, can you build/tune me the exact motor you stuffing in all your personal machines so that I can send my 50lb kid out to beat your 51lb kid"?

Since they don't have the equipment necessary to check the CC's of the engines(at the races), there is some speculation that Curtis may be bending the rules a little. Also the SPARKS bikes seem to be running some "FUNNY" fuels, which help as well.

Well, when you say build the same machine he does, he dont mess with the gearing and tire sizes of his customers just the motor. Its not just the motor its everything else that goes along with it. If you dont have your biked tuned for sand drags or hill climbs you will never get the full potential out of your bike.
As for checking the CC's on his bikes. Thats funny. Cuz thats what they used to check here in his home town years ago when he was winning all the local races. They actually made him tear the top end off the bike or three wheeler he was riding to make sure. Its not just you who thinks there is any kind of specualtion, its here locally too.
He is just an amazing engine builder if you ask me.
