raptor top speed

I wanna know what the top speed of your raptor was when it was stock because this one guy is saying his ds650 does 78 stock and somebody said the top speed of there raptor stock was 83 and he told them that a raptor with a pipe doesnt even do 80

Top speed on a stock Rappy is 72-74 mph.
Had mine clocked at 74 using my GPS.
Stock DS is right around the same.
Keep in mind, I dont care what kind of motor mods you do, motor mods DONT increase top speed.
Changing the gearing is the only way to increase top speed.
If the bike is capable of doing 74 then motor mods will get you from 0 to 74 faster, but youll still only do 74.
Change your primary sprocket to a 14 tooth and you will increase top speed by about 13-14 mph, even with a stock motor.
I put a 14 on mine and was clocked at 88 mph.

Hey man, I totally agree with you, except that it is possible to get more topend out of your quad, by not changing your gearing.
Say, on a stock raptor, when you have the thing tapped out itn 5th gear, the bike is too constricted to let it hit the rev limiter, or even come close. Its probably running 7800/9000RPM's. That extra 1200 rpms will give you more topspeed, you just have to unleash it, with a pipe and such. Then, your gearing will be the limiting factor.
But yeah, I find it funny when people say that there stock geared quad can go like 85mph. Dont think so!!! Adn you no what else, its not just the gearing that would be the limiting factor, but all stock quads have to run under 75mph, thats the rules. All the brands cant make a stock quad go over that limit from what I have learned. Thats why the ds650 had to be geared way down, cause it was WAY to fast!
I know for a fact that I gained topspeed on my yfz, by uncorking the poor thing. When my raptor and yfz where stock, the raptor had the better topend. Now, my yfz smokes my raptor everywhere. BUT, I am to the point now, that my gearing on the yfz is the limiting factor on going any faster.
