Default Chain guard??

I was at Pismo this weekend and I noticed that in deep sand my chain would start popping I know its caused from sand getting in between the chain & sprocket I have it adjusted properly while sitting on the bike but, if I remove the chain guard would that help?? Would it allow the sand to fall through rather the to pill up inside the guard? I ride mostly pismo or other dunes, and I don't ride where there is rocks or anything that could damage the chain/brake.

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated!

thanx,

Default Chain guard??

I've noticed that quite a few of the sand/dune riders do not run a skid plate on their swingarms. If your problem is the reasoning behind that it makes good sense to me. If your not around rocks or root/stumps go for it. I know all the mx guys do not run skids. I just like the added protection, and not having to worry about it I smack a rock or not.
