Default Dad's lookin for a rappy (or COULD be)

I finally talked my dad into a sport quad, after telling him that my shee will be almost 2x as fast as his polaris. (it tops out at like 38) and he had troubles with dunes that my blaster ate for breakfast, and now he thinks he wants to go to florence and winchester bay. i told him he'd have fun in the parking lot anyway he read a few mag. articles, (cleverly placed at strategic places throughout the house by yours truly) and hes thinkin about a rappy. i told him about the '01 tranny problems and the electric starter failures etc. although im not quite so sure what brings on such failures. will they just fail prematurely, or is it dependant on how hard you ride it? (not so much the starter obviously) also, if the starter or something else small fails on an '01, can you replace it with an '04 starter or is it that simple? and what would be a price he would be looking at? 6.2k for a new one is a little steep and he wouldnt ride it as much as i ride my bike so its not worth all that cash, so hes thinking about 4.5k for an 01 or 02. does that sound reasonable? any comments or suggestions would be appreciated, thx!

You should be able to find some 02' Rappys pretty cheap, or even a used 03' and not have to worry about the tranny problems.

And if the one way fails, you can get the L& A Designs kit for $250. Other then that rappy's are awesome. Goodluck finding one. You could check the atv online sales place, or ebay.

If you look around you can get an 02' for that price. I'd steer clear of the 01'. Mines holding out so far, but.....you never know.

Sorry man, but 02 are still going for about $5000 here in Oregon. When you have dunes and trails so close, quads cost a little more than out east.
