I am running stock engine with t5 pipes and 280 main jets with modified air box and I am looking for more power. Wath are the highest compression you guys have on your Banshee and are you able to run pump gas. Wich after market heads are the best and what dome CC for pump gas application.Would a milled stock head have the same result as a cool head? Would these mod lower the hig rev, will it give me more bottom. Would porting be a better way to go?

 

I have a Noss head ready to go on. I am running between 500-1000ft above sea level and running 20cc domes with 93 octane. My engine is apart right now getting exactly what you mentioned. I have a new head and domes and my cylinders are being ported. The porting will give you more power, but the head will keep the engine at a lower temp, pretty much eliminating the risk of overheating. If you want more low end power get it ported.

 

Any extra cooling the cylinder gives will be negated by the raised compression. Porting is where the real power is in pretty much any two stroke. Youll feel the raised compression mostly on the bottom end. Porting is whatever you want it to be. But youll probably have the compression raised at the same time as getting the porting.

 

The compression you can run with pump gas (165 psi or less) won't hurt the rev performance. If you get a stock head milled and rechambered properly you can gain performance that way also. When working with the stock head, there is a limited amount of modifications that can be done plus you can't make the stock head cool any better than it already does. With the aftermarket heads, there are different combustion chamber designs available as well as sizes. The dome size you can use with premium pump gas depends on your elevation and if your timing is stock. For example; At sea level with stock timing 21cc domes are safest with pump gas but at 1000' elevation 20cc domes would be good. As the elevation increases, the dome size can decrease to maintain optimum compression.
