Banshee Throttle Responce
Ernie660R is correct.
What you are experiencing is a lean bog, when the throttle is nailed. Are you running stock carbs? If so, you can try turning in your air screws to see if this clears it up. If, after adjusting the air screws, are less than one turn out, you may need to go up in pilot jet size. I use the following rule of thumb: less than one turn out, go up in pilot; more than three turns out, go down in pilot. Works for me.
I have also had a lean bog that could only be cleared up by richening up the needle, but this was with some 35 pwk carbs, that I'd leaned out too much in the mid range.

Also - lots and lots of clutch work is required to keep it in the right place in the powerband for the type of riding you are doing.....I ride mine at the tracks, and I clutch constantly to keep up the power - it has instant response as long as I have the rpm's in the right place at the right time........ Cory, that's exactly the problem though. Of course there will be instant response when you're in the powerband, but when the powerband is way high in the RPM's, it requires clutching to stay in the powerband and makes trail riding a challenge (and not always a fun challenge). With my 2 to 1 carb setup, my powerband comes on so low (literally right off idle) that no clutching is required to keep the power on. I can now cruise at 1/4 throttle, lower RPM's, and have the power ready when I need it.
