Still love it way more than the Rapp. lol. I don't believe there is an air leak but I will inspect it closer. The left piston suffered the rings melting on the exhuast side and the right piston shows signs of overheating on the same spot. This what I noticed when on the power band it was fluturating which it never does on the powerband only does this off the power band, normally once on the power band it is a steady pitched scream no matter what speed I'm going or terraine changes, hills I go up or whatever it just scream the same. This time it sounded more like a 4 stroke with a change in the pitch of the sound as it picked up speed, 2 strokes are no power or full power but not slowing sounding like it's gaining more.

I was only joking! Hiram....was you running the air box lid on previously and 330 mains? When a Banshee has a throttle stick there is a sucking sound like that. Needle in the up position when it should be down...thus allowing more air than necessary in. That may be it!

Yes, I was running the air box before with the 330's and the stock restrictive filter.

You had the lid on? With the snorkle as well?

Without the norkle,

After market filters are alot less dense then the stock one which if I hold it up to the light does'nt show any, as the after market one does.

Wow...I don't see how you could flow enough air for 330 mains with the lid in place. I would check the carb slides though for proper function.

I was a bit rich but still flowing good with the lid on and 330's. Now remember I did my own porting and I believe I did a awesome job from the looks of some of the ones I've seen done, also I ported/bored out my stock reed cages to flow more. I had an incredible responsive bike with the outstanding lowend snap that hit the powerband just above 1/4 throttle which any one with CPI's will tell you there power band is more like at or above 3/4 throttle being these pipes are top end drag pipes.
But I'm not finish with the port work, if you read my first post I will be doing some case matching and also raising the transfer windows a bit now that it's apart.

I feel ya. My mistake was a 20 dollar part costing me 250. I lost the boot for the carbs on one side, so I decided to run no air box just for a little. Of course, I melt the piston. Great. This dang thing is a money pit.

Buddy of mine had his .020 over, ported, and all the works, and took off on it, rode one lap around the house and it melted the piston. Too lean.

Hiram, you do realize that those Vito's pistons will essentially raise the exhaust another 1.75mm in addition to the 1mm you've already raised them with the templates, right? You'll notice a considerable loss in bottm end with the stock carbs and also you'll want a touch more compression to help compensate for the static compression loss. It will have more of a "lightswitch" powerband. Do yourself a favor and dont mod the piston windows. If you followed the templates carefully then you have plenty of intake flow right now. Dont take a chance on weakening things if you dont need to.Bubba
