Default Leaky Raptor Battery

The battery in my Raptor leaks acid. I replaced the originial battery recently and it too has started leaking. The acid drips through the holes underneath the compartment, and lands on the swingarm. I've got all these hated looking streaks on the swingarm. Could the leak be caused by vibration, or could it be too much voltage returning to the battery. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I dont think its a vibration thing since I dont have the gold color thing that holds the battery down and I think the battery shakes around in there. You might be frying your battery

A MF battery has vent holes at the top edge to release excess gas pressure. Usually, any gases mingle in the chambers above the cells, reform as a fluid and return to the cells where the fluid is absorbed back into a fibre material (like blotting paper). If the battery is over-charged (either by the defective regulator in the ATV or by a battery charger of the wrong type), the fluid may be excessive in amount in the chambers and then be expelled from the vents and leak out.
If you are not incorrectly (fast) charging the battery, then it only leaves the fault as the regulator or wiring.

I just had a 04 LE Rappy delivered on friday and took it out for the break in on sat. and my battery is already leaking. I'm getting a hold of the dealership today to see what's up.

I hope the dealer finds the problem for you. I'd appreciate it if you would post what the problem is when they find it!

I checked my charging system and it was correct (around 14.5 while it was running). The dealership said that the batery was over filled which caused the problem. They are going to replace everything on the rear end of the bike that was damaged by the battery acid. They have to pay for it out of their own pocket, due to the fact that it was incorrectly P & I'd.

I would tell them too give you the money on the swingarm (asuming they are replacing) and apply that toward an extended swingarm.

I replaced my stock battery with a Magna Power from my local parts house. I had to fill the cells myself, with the bag of electrolyte that came with it. Maybe I overfilled it a little....

However, I do remember my originial Yuasa battery leaking. I had the stocker for about 2 years, and figured the reason for the leak was just old age. That's when I replaced it with the Magna, to no avail. That's really cool of them to man up to their mistake and replace your damaged parts. Hope you have many trouble free hours on your new bike. Later- Dan
