Default Raptor mini-rail

Just recently bought an 01 raptor for $1500 and I plan to use the motor, etc. in a mini-rail (ATK - all terrain kart) like the attached pic. What motor upgrades would be recommended? I plan to at least upgrade trans to 02. What other options are available for trans upgrade beside an 02 trans? ATK's weigh around 750-850 lbs dry.

Thanks for any info,
G.

That thing would weight abit more than 1,000# wet with a driver. I would get a high comp piston(12:1), cam(stage 2) and a good exhaust. That would get that thing moving.

Nice rail ! Hey Nothing agaist raptors I own one But if it were me I would buy a 2 cyl sled motor at least a 700 like a polaris rmk for example and run the CVT trnasmision off the sled huge power range and Power to weight ratio is High a good 700 cc twin can produce 110 HP with out much work and then HANG ON

Cali: what would be a good sprocket combo to start with?

Thanks Outlaw. A lot of people are using the setup you described. I've driven both a cvt and shifter and I prefer shifting. Thats why I am using an atv motor versus a sled. Don't get me wrong, twice the horsies would be nice, but there's nothing like the feeling of shifting.

I would go with a 12/40 or even a 12/41-42...that thing will be heavy and I dont think you will be going FAST, this gearing will prpbably put you in the 65-70mph range, with 21in tires. If you go with even bigger tires you would have to make more changes.

i doubt it would pull 65-70 without some significant mods. A stock rappy can only pull mid 70's, and if you factor in the extra weight and lower gearing i really doubt it'll be going 65-70, maybe 55-60.

I think craycraft has GYT-R clutches, but Im not sure who you would have to go to to get an 02 trans

What about a yzf600, more power and revs, and lots of gears. what more could you ask for?
they hold up great in minisprints.
