Why put down Warrior?

Why does everyone put down the Warrior? I like my Warrior. It's a proven reliable quad and it's a great trail quad, everything is in a good place (reverse lever, etc.). I know I won't be in it for more than 3 years (one of my kids will grow in it) but didn't most people start out somewhere on a smaller quad? (At least most of you honest people).

I started on a 250x and I'm glad I did. I think I learned most of my riding skills on it and really learned how to handle a quad. It wasn't that fastest thing, but it got me from point a to point b. I think that people who start out a quad that is too much for their skills lose out on some important training...even though people say they will grow into it, I think its much better to start on a quad that you can handle...

Nothing wrong with a Warrior, it's just that for nearly the same money you can buy a more modern machine. I have an old 98 that I bought new and sunk a ton of money into and I dont ride it nearly enough anymore. The Warrior is a very stable and capable do it all machine, just not state of the art anymore. Mod it and you can improve it somewhat if you like but realize you wont get your money back out of it. That being said I plan to rebuild the head on mine and dump a new hotcam in there hoping it can recapture some of the lost excitement. If you're not competitive and just ride for the fun of riding a Warrior will give you alot of trouble free happiness and is solid as an Abrams tank.

I'm really thinking about getting a Warrior, from everything I read its a good, solid machine. I don't need the speed, just the dependability. It can't be fun working on your bike every week, when you could be riding it. If there are any real bad negatives to it, I haven't found them yet.

I dont see many people putting the warrior down. They are obviously a proven machine or they wouldnt have lasted as long as they have. You can still see many of the older ones out in the riding areas. Tried and true but could stand an update.
