Default (Cold Weather) Problems with '04 Bruin 350

I live in Nebraska, we just had the most snow we have had in 3 years and I
own this wonderful 4 wheeler and snow blade that will move the drifts of
snow off of my 300ft driveway right? Wrong!! I am having serious problems
keeping the engine running. It has worked great for me until now. I believe
it is because of the cold weather (-15 deg F), but if it is a true ATV why won't
it run in all conditions? I have put the correct type of fuel and oil in.
I pull it out of my garage after an extended period of warming the engine
after I actually get it started, and put my snow blade to the ground,
throttle and when I hit snow, and increase the throttle it kills every time.
I have tried to choke to make the engine idle faster, this seems to work,
but every time I put even the slightest pressure on the throttle it kills.
Someone please enlighten me on this predicament, I need to get my car
out of the garage!!

Cold+moist = stalling with any gas? Jetting is the answer, betcha a buck.

I would start with checking the plug first.

He means changing the jets in the carb to give it a different fuel/air mixture than it has now.

I second the opinion about changing the plug.

Here's another vote for changing the plug. Too many people start worrying about some huge problem their quad has, only to find out after countless hours of tearing it apart, that it was a fouled plug. Heck, it can't hurt right, a new plug is only a few bucks. Let us know what happens.

Well, I melted all the ice out of the engine area, and it seems to run alright, though it has trouble when I initially start it up.
I'm gunna try it again tomorrow, because it's not supposed to get any warmer (-5 F w/o windchill)

How many hours do you have on your new bruin? Keep in mind engine break in is over 20 hours, cold weather is the worst time to break in a new motor in my opinion. Engine break in should be done as manufacturer suggests. However if you have had no problems up until now and have broken in engine properly I would have to agree with the others about the possibility of your plug fouling. If you've done any riding thru mud and or water before this problem has occured water should have been drained from components as listed in your operators manual. Check your air filter. Fuel left in the tank over 60 days should have had fuel stabilizer added to it. Good luck!

How long do you let it warm up for. you should wait like 10 mins at least other wise you can cause engine damage.
