Raptor Shocks on a Wolverine
#1
I Recently posted asking if Raptor Shocks would fit a Wolverine. I got a few replies but no one sounded sure. I just put Raptor shocks on my Wolverine and they seem fine. They are the same length but the Raptor shock is much better quality and has more coils. I will update later on the performance

Keep me posted I race harescrambles and snaped the rod off on my right front shock after landing a jump. I couldn't get aftermarket shocks in time for the next race so I had to get another set of stock ones.

I don't know if the Raptor shock is better than most other shocks I just know that Yamaha did not put much thought into the quality of shock that they put on the Wolverine. I could take the shock off of a Lamson screen door and have the same quality as the Wolverine factory shock. I began looking at a better shock for my Wolverine and found that the Raptor measured 15 3/4 " while it was on the bike and the Wolverine had the same measurement. A set of Works performance shock will run around $385. I knew that most people on Raptors that are "serious riders" would put new "Better" quality aftermarket shocks on there bikes and have a set of factory lying around the shop collecting dust. The factory Raptor shock compared to the factory Wolverine shock is a night and day difference.
That is the reason I wanted different shocks.

Thanks for doing the research on this and being the test rider too! I'm looking forward to hearing your update on how the shocks do, where you have the preload set, any difference in ride quality, how they handle jumps, etc. with the extra 80 pounds. I'm sure the spring rate and valving would be heavier on the Raptor shocks, might be just the ticket! You did put all three shocks on, right?
