This might be a stupid question but i always hear people talking about these poker runs. Can someone please explain to me what these are?

 

poker run is a group ride (usually all inclusive) that runs a loop with check points along the way.

at the checkpoints you draw a card from a deck, and have you card punched by a race official

you draw five cards (five checkpoints) and you hope for the best poker hand

best hand wins

trophys and prizes handed out afterword

it is an untimed race and speed is not an issue,,,it is more of a family event

 

i see. So there really isnt any need to go fast?

 

exactly, time is not an issue,,,,,,,usually the fast riders go 1st and the slower one fill in behind
