Default drag pipe help!

a guy I know has taken an interest in my raptor.....he is the best welder that I have seen and he wants to build me some drag pipes......all I have to do is pay for his materials..............he just made a full exhaust system for his Z 400.....you would not believe what this dude can do with that stuff

we decided to make dual pipes come out, one on each side.....
here is where I need your help.......
should I have them connect to the footpegs some how?.....(side or bottom)
or should I just make them flare out wider?
give me some help here....and if you have any pics of any other drag pipes that would help with the design process.....
thanks guyz
