400ex is a great starter bike if you ask me.

300ex's are very reliable, fast! and are a blast to ride. It is the choice of many young ladies and wives as well as guys.

Id go with a blaster (with a few mods) or a 400ex. The 300ex just doenst have enough power, imo. Pft, I started out on a banshee, so what do I have to say?

between a blaster and 400ex wouldn't a 400ex be better realiablity don't you think.
but a blaster would be more fun.
My byfriend has a blaster but I don't feel as secure on that as I would on a larger bike like a 400 or a 300 ex

go for the 300 ex or 400ex. All power requires is getting used to it. Then you end up wanting something bigger later anyway. Personally I would stay away from the blaster or the other 2 strokes.

Just my two cents.

2-strokes are plenty reliable I think the blaster is a great quad to start on or even a 250R

400ex is a perfect starter bike, cheap and reliable. Either way you will end up upgrading. Two strokes are way too much work for a beginner. If you can wrench and like doing it, by all means go two stroke.

I think the Z400 is a better choice than the 400ex. The Z has reverse which is denfinitely a consideration, and it has better power and handling. Cost you a few more bucks but it is worth it.
