Well I washed my banshee about a week ago and now it wont start. (no spark)
I took the cover off the flywheel and there was a little water in there. My question is how does the fly wheel come off? I have the center nut off, and i tried a gear puller but it wont budge. Am i missing something? Also do you guys think it is the stator? (it is only about 8 months old) Can these be tested? What else could it be? THANK YOU GUYS VERY MUCH FOR ANY HELP!!!!

 

You will need a Rotor Puller (YM-01189). It's just a few bucks. Make sure you turn it in as far as possible so it has a good hold on the inner threads. You have to use some muscle when you turn on the puller bolt and it will sound like you broke it when it does pop off.
Did you check your coil wires? Water pressure could have knocked them off of the terminals. There could be many other things when it comes to the electrical system. Get yourself a service manual.

 

It could be the T.O.R.S. unit... thats the connector under the tank that shuts off the spark in a stuck throttle situation.. They frequently go bad.. Unplug it (pull it apart under the tank and try to start)That might just do it!

 

DO NOT use a gear puller on the flywheel. All you will do is bend up the flywheel. Go get a K & N puller, they only cost $12. Otherwise you are looking at a $250 flywheel. Instead of removing the flywheel (which is probably a waste of your time) check all the electrical connections. While your at it blow out all of them and put some dielectric grease in them. If that doesn't work then get a meter and a service manual and check all the components. If I were you I would get a service manual. IF you don't have one you are just going to ruin alot of equipment and cost yourself way more than the $30 purchase pric for the book. If you had the book you would know the proper way to remove the flywheel. It's that easy. Good luck.

don't mean to sound harsh, just hate to see people ruin stuff due to a lack of resources or knowledge. Ask first then do the task.

 

Hey, when you take the plugs out, make sure one is in the cylinder or they both are touching a ground.

Because if you take both plugs out and put only one on a ground they wont spark.
