Default 589's on a wolverine

I have a 2001 yamaha wolverine I have not modifided it yet and I was wondering do you guys think if I upgrading to 25" in 589m/s would be too heavy or to large for the engine to turn my dad thinks it might. Also is that a good snow tire since we live in New Hampshire after all? Thanks!

your going to want to at least run a pipe with the 589's there big and heavy and are hard on you drivetrain id recomend mudlights for the wolverine instead of the big 589's. they will should give you just as good traction in everything except mud thats 13in deep. and there lighter and easier on your drive train

I put 25" Surtracs on mine, very nice grip, you can flip the tires around for mud or sand/snow, they are light, and aren't real tall for a 25, barely more than a 24. But like Big Bear said, you should pipe ,filter and jet first, or you will notice a lot of lost bottom end with bigger, heavier tires.

Huh? The 25" Mud Lites went on my stock rims just fine......or do you mean the only 23" tires that'll fit the stock rims?
I saw the tread depth for the Mud Lites listed somewhere online in an ad.....seems like it was measured in 32nds of an inch, like 23/32" or something around there. I haven't been stuck since I put them on.

yea Id HIGHLY RECCOMEND the FMF megamax exaust, K&N filter and jet kit from Albaaction.com for the wolverine. I put it on mine and the sucker runs like SOB. If you run with I jetted for all 11 disks but you can drop down to 10 or 9 for more torque which you probably will want with the bigger tires. having the disk setup is really a good idea because you can ajust your power range depending on your trial conditions. When im riding mudbogs i drop to 9 or 10 but when im all out hauling in open trails and fields and such the 11 gives you a good ammount of sack all around. just my two pennies. If you were happy with the wolverines power before when you put it on you'll think its breathing fire. Everybody else has to buy big 600 now 700 4x4s and they talk about handling I mean im my not so humble opinion at 6 foot and 170lbs the wolverine will get me through the woods faster than any fat slob on his big boy 4x4. Its much more agile and nimble in the woods and I dont often have problems because im topped out in 5th inthe woods and need more speed than the 350 can offer me. acceleration is AOK for me too I mean I have a Zilla and obviously thats faster but in tight woods i can still clock a better time on my wolverine any day of the week. Im puttin 25 inch dirt devils on mine this spring when I get the money, if I have any after i finish getting the zilla running.
