rebuilding a banshee
#1
Hello,
I am considering a Banshee for my next bike. I have one question, How often do these things have to be rebuilt. I have also heard people say that a banshee is like any other two stroke JUNK!!. But I have also heard they are very dependable and just basic maintainence will keep them going a long time. What is your guys opinions.
THANKS

Anyone that tells you that Banshee's are junk have never owned or operated one. The one thing that you have to do with a 2 stroke is do the top end rebuilds about every 3 years. Once you get on a Banshee and get that fealing you can only get from riding a banshee, you wont care about a top end rebuild every few years. Just like everything they require maintance, and they can last forever.

DONT LISTEN TO THOSE PEOPLE THE BANSHEE IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER OWNED THEY ARE RELIABLE AS LONG AS YOU TAKE CARE OF THEM ONCE YOU HAVE HAD A BANSHEE YOU WILL NEVER WANT ANYTHING ELSE AND AS LONG AS YOU DO THE WORK YOUR SELF ON THE TOP END ITS NOT REAL EXPENSIVE AND YOU DONT HAVE TO SCREW WITH VALVES PLUS THEY ARE FRICKEN FAST

People who say that are the ones who just got smoked and are kicking them selfs for not getting one. There are people who's top end last 6-7 years. Its all how you ride and take care of it. All I want to tell you is if you get a banshee treat her good because shee deserves it. They are a truly special bike that give you a feeling that NO 4 stoke can.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

For a topend to only last 6 months the owners have to have no clue what they are doing. It was either done wrong. Or they dont know how to jet, or they dont know how to mix the oil. Either way that is way off.
There is more too it then just mixing oil..
Forinstance there is a proper way to start a banshee. You need to shake the banshee side to side for a min or two because some premixes seperate after 20 min. You should give a few slow primer kicks to get the walls of the cylinder oiled if it sat for a week or so to prevent scaring. It should be warmed up properly. Let idle for about 5-7 min then ride out of the power band for a bout 5 more.
Basicily what I am getting at is there is a need for detail that banshee owners should have when it comes to the engine . But some morons don't know what they are doing they just start it up take off running the wrong jets and mixture and tear there engines up because they are stupid. These are the people that give 2 strokes bad names. they should stick to less sensitive 4 strokes.

Also run a good premix dont run some cheep crap. And never mix them.

I have had to rebuild the top end 2 times in 5 years. I had split fire spark plugs burn holes in the pistons one time and a NGK ground brake off the second time. I have never had a problem with anything else, just the plugs. I only run MC1 oil and believe in it. I think the most important thing is the oil you use. Pick a good oil and stick with it.
