Raptor Handle Switch
#1
I rolled my Raptor and a couple thousand bucks later all I need is a new handle switch. Well, in reality all I need is the actual thumb switch for the headlights. Yamaha wants a hundred bucks for this little 25 cent part. Anybody know who actually makes these units, or where I made be able to pick something up, or have any other ideas?
Thanks,
Dave

On Ebay there are quads being parted out. Some are insurance quads and I am sure some are stolen quads. I list parts that I replace with proformance parts. Also there is some junk yards that only work with bikes quad and snowmobiles. Check the internet with some searches. Good luck, tell me if you come across the ring that holds in the rev. switch (not that I was in your shoes with a flipped Raptor).

Went up a hill at Carnegie SVRA in Northern California. Had to steer right, around somebody stuck on the hill and got into the wet grass. Lost traction and actually started sliding backward. The damn wet grass was like being on ice! Locked up all four and still couldn't stop the backward slide. It was actually gaining speed. I laid my legs out over the rearend and tried to get the tires to dig but it was no use. I tried to steer gently into a cross-hill path so I could slow it, almost had it, but it caught an edge with the right rear tire and went into a corner-to-corner roll. I bailed as it went vertical, did a tuck and roll and came up standing. Then I watched as my quad went end-over-end, follwed by 4 or five good rolls, then pitched off into a ravine with one final endo spin and slammed into a tree.
Trees can do a serious bit of damage. It wasted my radiator, frame, upper motor mount, front and rear plastic, headlights, seat, and a bunch of little stuff, like that damn light switch. My Tag T2's made it through with minimal damage though.
Now, about $1500 and a whole bunch of work later I'm just about ready to get back on the trail. Got a week planned at Hollister Hills starting March 15. I think I'll stay off the wet grass.
