I would run 160/165 without the lid. Dont bother buying a jet kit since the biggest jet on a dyno jet kit is 150. If ur pipe comes with jets, go ahead and use those or contact CT, they should tell you what to use with that setup. The breather filter is a small filter that goes on the little hose thats on ur lid. I got a K&N breather part # 62-1100 for like $20.

Hey Caliraptor.... I'm in Phoenix but was wondering what elevation you are at in Calexico. and would my rappy have to have the jets changed at varying altitudes. I'm new to the jetting thing(obviously) but am very interested in it.... I guess what I'm asking is if you know where there is an elevation point where you must make a jetting change? ....Thanks... I think tha if your at sea level, going to 4000ft+ would require jetting change. Calexico is at some points, 42ft below sea level.

A smaller jet or a larger jet..... Maybe it's my misconception..... The higher the altitude the thinner the oxygen supply so this is what screws me up

I ran 170/175 with a K&N paper w/ outerwear and no lid. otherwise stock. Gave great power w/o any loading or backfiring

The higher the elevation, the lower the jet size. I myself use Dyno Jets, dont get Mikuni (GYT-R) jets mixed up with Dynos, since they use a different measuring system. Always use same brand jets/needles, I dont think it matters with pilot jets though. Hope this helps.

By the way, I got my breather filter from PepBoys.

hmm, they only go up to 150? thats funny because i have jets from 165-205 with dyno jets.

the dynojet numbers are a lot different than mikuni/gtyr numbers. find out what kind of jets you want to use first.

If you want real power and a good improvement invest in a jet kit. I personally got a dynojet kit and it made a massive difference in power. Yes you can just keep the stock needles and just change the main jets, but its not going to make the same power as a jet kit. You need the new needles that only comes with the jet kits. That is what makes most of the power.

Yes the dynojet kit for the raptor only have a max jet size of 150. Don't be fooled by the small size. The dynojet needle is much thinner than the stock needle and combining that 150 with the dynojet needle will give you the same flow rate as a stock needle and a 175 or bigger jet.

If you look at sparks recommendation for a full aftermarket pipe, K&N and open lid, they recommend using a 148 and 150 dynojet. The stock dynojet kit should work for almost all full exhaust systems without a lid and new air cleaner.

The only time the kit will not work is if you went the route I went. I installed a sparks full system plus a L&A adaptor and K&N. The adaptor replaces the complete airbox and rubber hoses before the carb. It flows tons more air and I am using dynojet sizes 165 to 170. I just ordered the additional jets I needed from Dynojet. You might also need bigger jets if you install a cam or do motor work. But I state again, the needles are they thing you should be after not just the jet sizes.

If you are planning to use the CT exhaust and the jet and needle kit they provide, Don't mix it with Dynojet needles or jets. Stick with the stock jets and follow CT's recommendations.
