if by grunt you mean torque, the cheapest thing i can think of is ... get a different bike. lol. banshees have very little low end "grunt". for top speed and accel theyre great though. (i love mine ) shees are very fast. They top out around 73-75 mph stock. What kind of racing do you have in mind? MX, desert, enduro? How old is your son and what is the last bike he had?

he is 16 ,the last bike he owned was a honda cr80 ,the shee is fast ,i just thought different filters and pipe would make it faster,he used to ride jet skis in the 785cc stock class

well pipes and filters will make it more powerful, which will affect acceleration more than top speed. The main reason to get pipes and filters is really just for more power. It would make a much more noticeable difference in dunes than in mx. in dunes you need as much power as you can get to keep the wheels spinning all the way up the hill. in mx it will make your acceleration quicker but with most pipes you will lose low end (if thats important to you) and the power will come on stronger. If the power comes on too strong, youll just spin out and it wont make you any faster. so, if its mx, i suppose pipes would be okay, it would give you better holeshot and better midrange accel. (this is all my personal opinion though, so depending on what type of racing he plans on doing, this may or may not apply.)

i also agree with bing. decide whether he needs more power after he knows how much it already has.
