A Ticking Big Bear
#1
I have a 97' Big Bear (350), I am wandering if it is supose to make a ticking noise. My freind has a Honda Recon and it makes a ticking noise, but it is not nearly as loud and noticable as my Big Bear. Any suggestions? Some one told me to adjust the valves??? I don't know whether that is true or not. Thanks!

Hey there, I also have a 1997 Yamaha Big Bear 350 and a Honda Fourtrax300. The ticking noise you hear are the valves. I've taken them to the dealer to ge adjusted THREE times. I shouldn't have to keep adjusting them like this. My Honda ticks a littler but not nearly as loud as my big bear. We've had so many problems with this big bear. First the oil pump breaks and our engine gets wasted, then the valves keep going outta whack and now it overheats like crazy!! Ahhh...I wish I never bought it. This ticking noise you hear will not damage any of the engine components but it will get on your nerves. Take it to the dealer and have them adjust the valves for you...or if you can do it yourself, find out the valve clearance and do it while the engine is cold and the piston is at top dead center.
