i have a 2002 banshee what is done is all below, what should be done next to get the most cheapest?, port and polish i heard is supposed to be good??

 

definitely go with a port n polish job......but depending on the condition of your motor....you may wanna clean it up a little bit by honing or a fresh bore with some new pistons while the jugs are off for porting!

 

shave the head, port-polish, 16cc domes if you can find em. alcohol, just kidding

you enlarge the ports in the engine. Shave head means take off some of the base of the head casueing the domes to be closer to the piston increasing compression.

 

I say, port n polish. Then buy a cool head, and put 18cc domes. With 16cc, I believe that you would need a new crank. But, if that is the way that you want to go, you could get a strocker with the 16cc domes. That would be sweat!!! Also, with the port n polish, you are going to want bigger carbs.

 

I just recently talked to the guy at the machine shop, BILIT machining exactly. He was sayin that the port and polish is good, i asked about a engine kit, he sait to put a 370 some odd kit. They put blaster pistons in your quad, i heard the 420 trinity kit is supposed to be good bu the blaster piston switch is easy, all the do is a litttle boring, and rods and pistons. I am definatley gettin porting done, but now a engine kit?? he says it will cost me about 1000 canadian dollar, so about 700 american.

 

The blaster kit involves adding longer rods which involves pulling the crank apart. It also involves boring your cylinders to the last overbore. Forget polishing, you might gain .5hp and if you still feel it needs to be done, do it yourself. Pretty much, ive found there are two kinds of porters. Know it alls who use software and charge you enough to break your bank account. Then there are old guys who have been at it forever and use no software. Either way, its best to find somone that somone else used and they did a great job (dont listen to the people who payed 800 dollars and are just trying to make themselves feel better, look for actual results).
