Default Are Raptors Known To.....

Hey Guys, I got an 03 Rap all stock except the 20" Holeshots on the rear. I checked the oil yesterday(cold) it was full so I go to ride. Now today I come back check the oil its 1/4 lower then when i checked it. Both times I've checked is when it was cold. Also to the Idle has been changing on its own not all the time but only once and a while. It always seems to go higher. The mechanic at the dealer where I bought it from said he cleaned the carbs on it. So I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the Idle changing. Thanks

The oil level will move based on the temp. Always check it hot.

Make sure your choke isn't sticking and maybe check for air leaks around the carbs.

First of all, you should always check your oil when it is at operating temperature and has had a chance to circulate through the engine. Make sure you are not screwing the dip stick in to get your measurment. Once you check it when it's warm you will have an accurate reading.
I'm not sure why, but the idle runs at different rpm's at different times. There are people in the forum that know more about this than I do. One thing I do know is NEVER turn your ide down because you think it's ideling too high. If you do, your engine will stall and kick back, destroying your starter one way.

Thanks Guys, I was thinking about turning the idle down but it runs fine when shes not idling high. So I definetly will NOT turn it down. I'll look around the boots and fill up my oil.

To check for leaks try squirting little, just a little, starting fluid around the intake boots. If the engine revs up you have found your leak.
