Raptor gearing help
#1
I wanted lower gearing on my raptor, so I went down one tooth on the front (12t.). Now I have plenty of low end for woods riding, but it seems like I can't rev out each gear as much as before. Should I go back to stock gearing on front and maybe add just one or two in the rear or should I try some motor mods? Everything else is stock. Any woods riders have suggestions? I do more woods riding than anything, but would like to have first and second rev a little higher.

You have to decide what you want. Do you want low end, or do you want to rev out higher gearing. The only medium, would be to put the 13 back on the front and go with a 41 on the back. That is the medium between 13 and 12 on the front.

I also dropped a tooth up front, but I did so to gain low end for hill climbing. That was with a stock pipe. Now I have a white bros pipe and silencer which gave me tons of power, now I'm going back to stock 13 up front, and addin one in the back to ballance that out. Best to just play with it. It's the cheapest and most noticeable investment I've found.

Go to Renthals website.... www.Renthal.com and click on chainwheels the have a ratio chart in there and explain gearing pretty good.

If you want lower gearing you have to be able to deal with shorter gears. If you're wanting to play around with gearing try puttin a 13 tooth back on and addin a couple teeth in the back. That renthal site is great.
If you invest in a pipe you'll be very happy with the power.

Thanks guys.I have already ordered a 42T sprocket and new chain and will start messing with it . Hopefully, I can find something I like.
Big Bubba and turtleboy, how do you like the yoshimura pipe? I was thinking of getting one.
