As I understand it the 1st and 2nd gear and associated shafts, the rear shock and the subframe are changed as well as the CDI. I think that's about it. On the 01 the 1st and 2nd gear are higher, the subframe is square tubing, the shock has a remote rezzy mounted on the frame, the CDI I dunno, there's a difference though as aftermarket CDI's are specific to 01's and 02up. Not 100% sure on the subframe though, just passing on what I've heard.

1st, 2nd, 3rd gears and reverse are different gear ratios than the 01 model, just to add to what Mr45auto has said. Also they added a reverse rev limiter to the 02 and later models.

Mr45auot, I'd like to thank you for your comments made in that ridiculous "pigs" thread. They removed it I believe before you might have seen my thanks to you in that thread. Agreed with your comments and felt the need to let you know.

I caught it before it was killed, thanks for the support. Just as a side note my 01 has a reverse rev limiter as well. If I get the revs up high in reverse it will sputter and cut out. I wonder if I have a mutant 01? I've heard before 01's dont have it. Mine's in the 13900's if I remember right. I'm curious as to whether or not it's in the CDI's? Is there something I should look for on it to determine if it's an early 02 CDI or an 01?

Hmm I've never hit the limiter in reverse on neither of mine. I've always been told the 01's didn't have a reverse rev limiter. Both mine are under 1700 in the vin.

Newer ones are lowered in 1st and 2nd. Should give a better launch.

I don't believe you can use an 02 CDI on an 01 Raptor, it won't work. As for the ratios question they lowered 1st - 3rd on the 02 and later models which would mean you'd have to shift sooner.

Same here and I was hoping you would have read it before it was tossed but I thought I had better remove it before I went out of control.

Oh and I still enjoy my 01 Raptor

Thanks guys, Btw my CDI has the numbers F8T 37971 1125 Just curious if anyone with an 01 has that number on it. Just trying to figure why mine cuts out a hi rev in reverse when other 01's dont??? (it also has the mitsubishi emblem on it)
