Default Cam mod YFZ vs Piped, Filtered, Jetted Raptor

Lets not go overboard here. A full piped, proflow K&N, and correctly jetted Raptor (DynoJet etc)
only needs about a 50 dollar part, and can and will beat cam modded YFZ450's in 300ft dirt. My 2001 did
it all the time last year at events, with lights. Whats that part/parts ? Any of the many lowering
devices - including the rear. CFM makes a good one. Then all you do is full blast launch out of the
hole with 2nd gear pinned , with no wheely , and it can win. The power is there in a Raptor.... think
about it. You just gotta set it up to use it.

You have a good running machine then, cause a properly tuned, piped and filtered raptor still has no chance against a cam mod 450.

Peyote - mmmm. Ok, for real though.

Check it out. Took this off my drag footage. Got about 10 on film against 3 different machines.

This one is cam modded, ported, and running a higher compression piston..(fastest of the 3).. Raptor is Sparks piped,
DynoJetted, lid "on" , Pro Flow filter adapter with K&N. CFM lowering parts, front and rear. And this is with stock everything
else - even stock tires.

This drag is only 250ft on dirt.

Please dont flame me to death - This is just my personal experience, and doesnt reflect
everyone from the sounds of it. I just think when your quad doesnt wheely up on a start,
then your disadvantage is no longer a disadvantage.... and the lowering devices do that. Works
for me.

I find it more difficult to believe that this is not a fluke because you state your raptor runs with the lid on. Thats a lot of hp to be losing and still edging out cam modded and piped etc yfz in such a short distance.

It seems as though you are just much better at riding and not as afraid of the throttle as your competitors. Congrats on the wins.

I have two Buddys one has the Mod YFZ and the other has Mod Raptor. And the YFZ is faster but not By Much.
The YFZ has Duncan Fat Boy 4 Pipe & Silencer and a White Bros Airfilter & a Vitos Hot Cam & a SRP Rev Box & Razr 2 Front and Rear Tires.
And the Raptor has DMC Pipe and Silencer and Pro Flow Kit and a Vitos Hot Cam and a SRP Rev Box and Holeshot front and rear Tires.
And the YFZ wins by 1 1/2 Quads

I have a question what does dragracing a yfz really matter if you bought the yfz to dragrace I really think you bought the wrong quad, yes the yfz can and will beat many in a dragrace when they are equally modded or stock but the yfz wasn't made to dragrace

Maddog, your absolutely right - it does take a ***** to the walls launch. I was just
merely saying it can be done, and a Raptor doesnt getted absolutely killed. Sure Ive
lost to them too in 300ft, but its always close.

And about the airbox. A certain engine builder also agrees, that a DynoJetted Raptor, properly
jetted with lid on , will out drag open breathers with more HP You get more HP numbers with
the lid off, but the power curve is much much better with lid on, and you get faster drag times in
300ft if you have good curves ( torque included).

Anyway, I would never bet money that Id beat a cam modded 450 in a drag. They rip. I just
was showing that it "can" be done, and its not a royal beating even when the Raptor loses. Both
are fast.
