Does anyone think the center of gravity/seat height could be a little to high? When I look at the picture, it seems like the Raptor would have a "sit on top" feeling rather than a "sit in" feeling due to the high seat height relative to the rest of the ATV. The higher the seat height in relation the the rest of the ATV, the more it can feel like you will be thrown over the handlebars when you hit nasty bumps with the front tires, or if you ever have the rear end buck. More leg room is a good thing, but to a point. Just a thought.

I am still a little leary about putting money down before the actual machine is released. Also, with all the rumors from Kawasaki and Honda, it would be a shame to make a decision too early. If you have a buyer for your DS, go ahead and sell. The new machines will be here in big numbers by Dec. timeframe. There is a dealer in Phoenix who is getting 40 in the first shipping cycle. Last time I spoke with them they had less than 10 deposits. It seams that you are not happy with your DS. Why run out and potentially make the same mistake? I am not bashing any quad, just maintaining my cautious approach. I know it is difficult, I am just itching to get a new machine.

Dirt Wheels arrived! I thought the Dirt Wheels review would clear some things up, but it did not. There is still conflicting info in various reviews. I guess we will have to wait for the next issue when they do the shootouts.

Well actually it did clear up that the machine is not tippy due to its overall heigth like a lot of people expected, and that it handles like a 400, that cleared up a lot of questions that ive seen here in this forum for a couple months now.

Food for thought:

BMW F650(421lbs): 0-60 in 5.22sec stock, 4.62sec RW STG 2

Numbers according to Motorcycle Consumer News, 5/99

Yeah, that is something to think about. A Raptor is even bigger than that and also lighter. Think of what it could do......
