I was wondering how fast the yz426 would go. Because the dirtwheels said the raptor are faster than yz426.

I dont know about the raptor being faster than the 426 but i havent got my sept dirt wheels in yet. from the other reviews it doesnt sound like it. In a dirt bike mag they had a shootout with the big bore four strokes and i think it had a top speed of 80-82 but im not sure, it was a while back. So it and the raptor will probably be pretty close.

 

i remember DirtBike compared the yz400 to all the open class bikes and they radared it and it went 86, although i doubt the raptor goes this fast. Dirt wheels was prolly talking about acceleration. I don't see what the big deal is about top speed anyway, i'v seen alot of poeple say they don't wanna buy the raptor now cuz its will only go 75 and not 85 or whatever. What diffrence does it make? 75-80 is plenty fast enough.

 

I dont think either have an enormous top speed but at the end of the day it comes down to acceleration you dont often hit top speed anyway so who cares 80 is way fast enough on the terrain they are built for!!

 

They are probabley talking about the yz426 engine being in a quad, and that the Raptor is faster than that.

 

Ive raced DS650s and if the raptor is similar to that, the answer to your question is no...it is not faster than a YZ. Close off the line, but depending on rider....depends on how much you beat the DS by.

Not even in your wild dreams the raptor beats YZF 426 in Top Speed. Try to do a drag race and you will see that.

 

Why is it that a stock 400cc motor is putting out around the same HP as a stock 650cc motor? What tricks are they playing inside that YZ motor? What HP does a 426 put out stock? What will typical mods bring the HP up to, or is it maxed out already?
