Default 04 banshee running like crap

ok i bought a new banshee last weekend, i have run about one tank of gas out of it. it runs really poorly. please tell me this will get better. what it is doing is running really rough doesnt want to run with the choke on or off, i let it warm up for about 10 minutes before riding but it still hesitates when i try to get on it a little bit and from the right pipe every now and then i get lke a whooshing sound like its building up pressure and suddenly releasing. how do i break this thing in as i dont trust my dealler as far as i could throw him. i have talked to some people and i run the yamalube 2R mix in it the oil thats for the blaster mixed to 24.1, is there a better way to break this thing in cuz this weekend will be the last break in im getting it cuz i have a set of toomey T-5's that are going on it.

First of all switch to Maxima Castor 927 mixxed at 4oz. to the gallon. When you first crank it you'll prolly have to rev it pretty good to get it cleaned out.If you just let it set there and idle or kinda half throttle it it'll just load up and run like ****.Hope this helps, you may be foulin' a plug do to the mixture and oil.

Id check spark plugs first, then switch oil mix and whatnot. That should prolly work hopefully.

I run Klotz R-50 2 stroke synthetic at 32 to 1 in my banshee. I'm not a big fan of castor oil, it seems to settle when you let your bike sit for any lenth of time.

All premixes seperate. But you are right castor does sepperate faster then most. But if you read the Im going with banshee post I explain how to properly start a banshee. Should help. Also it will run like crap for a few minutes. just be easy on it for 5 mins and it will come to you when it is warm and ready.

After 3 tanks of gas mix at 32:1 and get off that yama crap. And deffenitly do not go to a synthetic premix untlll the break in period is over or your rings wolln't seat well

RELAX...........it gets much better, when I first got mines from the dealer i couldn't get it to go up my trailer ramp as it had no power and would bogg, so I said what the hell did I just buy and got off and pushed it up the ramp, it is new and the rings still need to seal, this is the main part responsible for low end power, the compression that is. Dump that fuel that run a 32:1 mix which is 4oz to 1 gallon of fuel let the bike warm up 5 minutes, then get the RPMs up and take off it, make sure you don't baby the thing but don't stay on the powerband for more than 4-5 seconds at a time, basically try to give it full gas then 1/4 throtle then full gas again and again to load up those rings to help seal them up good, don't be scared to punch it full throttle as long as it's only for a burst of 4-5 seconds at a time, and then don't ride for more than 30 minutes without letting the bike cool off by shutting off the engine and taking a long break about 20-30 minutes. You will have a little monster starting to wake up more and more after each cool down period, do this for 3 tanks of gas and after the 1st tank full you can start to go longer time with out a cool down 30-45 minutes.

A couple things to remember about the Banshee - you can't let it idle like a 4-stroke (I don't know if you have had a Shee before, so this is just in case you haven't). If you let it idle for too long, you will probably foul your plugs. Once you foul your plugs - it will run like crap. The way I warmed up my Shee was to kick it over....let it idle a couple of seconds at at time, and blip the throttle......over and over again...until it stopped blowing smoke out, and it ran smooth when I blipped the gas. I never let it just idle for longer than 4-5 seconds. Once it stopped blowing smoke, I knew it was warm, and I shut it off until i was ready to ride. I also run 40:1 on my gas/oil mixture....this seems to have been a great ratio all along for me. I have an '04....and it's been 100% dependable from day 1!!! My only problem with it was I tore one of my intake boots and it ran like crap until we figured out what was wrong. That was due to the boost bottle I had installed - it puts pressure on the intake boot and they have a tendancy to crack.

Good luck with your Shee - I would replaced both plugs....check your intake boots....etc. It's brand new - it should run like a champ!
