Default raptor problem

Has anyone else had the 6 bolts that connect the one way starter to the ac magneto shear? Mine has done it 4 times and the guys at the yamaha shop here are not that smart. Can anyone help me?

I have done mine by myself and have never worked on a motorcylce engine in my life and they have been working for 9 months now. I just torqued them to specs but they are probably using inch lbs instead of ft pounds.

well i don't think that is the problem. since this is the fourth time and each time i've done them to spec and used loctite everytime. it's shears them right between the starter assembly and ac magneto.

Default raptor problem

it happens

usually because the bolts untorque themselves

clean the bolt holes (of lubricant),,,,,,and use some red locktite

the bolts must be seated properly (locktite/torque)

(my oneway needs replacing as we speak,,,,,bolts sheared i think)

I just talked to someone about it, I guess it has something to do with the mixture screws on the carbs. And it backfires when you try to start it and sends the crank the wrong way against the starter and shears them. I just need to know the number of turns for each mixture screw.

go with the L & A Designs and you will be fine. I went through two one ways before the l&a and it's awesome now.

bump the idle up a bit (richen the idle circuit),,,,,,and use the clutch and leave in neutral when starting and shutting off

If I had it to do over,,,,,I would have replaced with the L & A when I 1st started to notice a problem

My stocker lasted over 2 years

Yes this is what I do now and never had a problem since. I dont know if backfiring would cause this at all. I think your bolts are coming loose. If it were tight the gear and the magneto would be considered one object to me. Are you using factory bolts or ones you got from a hardware store?
