They are more durable than a Z400, I never saw a quad fall apart before my buddy raced one. 01 Raptors had bad transmissions and there have been a lot of lessons learned when going into the motor. 02 and above have better transmissions and the major engine builders are putting out some darned reliable motor packages if you need more power. They are tippy with the stock suspension and tires. Every aftermarket part you can afford to add to the suspension will improve the handling. Tires first if you're tight for cash. A Raptor will never handle like a YFZ but you can make them handle pretty good with enough money. The Raptor has tons more motor potential than a Z400 or YFZ and it's an awesome trail machine right out of the box. If those were my choices, I'd take the Raptor without a second thought.

the good thing about the 01 rappys is titanium valves i only had 2 problems with mine the carbs popping off and the one way bearing i got upp boots which solved the carbs which were 90 but i think are like 60 or 70 now and the one way bearing is 180 or 190 and my tranny is still good although reverse was always bad because sometimes you have to click down twice or up twice to get it back into 1st other than that i think its been great

I've ridden the snot out of mine with no problems what so ever. As for being tippy, I've never tipped a single time.

I have both bikes and like to ride both but drag race with my Raptor. But, you can make the z400 fast too!!! I like the bottom end on the Raptor, stock for stock the Raptor has way more bottom end.

anything better bout the z400? Just wonderin'! My buddy got a banshee will a raptor keep up w/ it in the woods? My trails are purty tight mainly. So if you get a raptor make sure it is newer that 01 and I would be in good shape? Thanks I really appreate all this!

If you've got tight trails the Z400 will probably get you through them faster, stock for stock. I personally don't like the way my wife's KFX handles. It seems "jerky" to me. My Raptor is 2" lower, 2" wider, and 4.5" longer than stock so it handles pretty good. I also enjoy the extra power the Raptor has. As for the tippy issue, the more you weigh, the tippier they feel.
