banshee or 250r
#2
i like the 250r better. the banshee seems a little nose heavy. i like the handling of the 250r better, but maybe i am just used to the 400ex. I also think hondas have better duribility, but yamaha would be my second choice.

Unfortunately, it all depends on you. Best thing to do is ride both and see what you like better, but I know that can be really hard if you don't know anyone that has one or both.
About the only thing you'll find out on this, or any other forum, are opinions and bashes, but if you can find someone else that rides exactly like you do, and has had both, you will be in luck.
I have owned both so here's my two cents;
250R:
Great for MX and tight trails, but finding one in good condition is getting hard. My '86 was beat to death-needed frame, shocks, plastic, etc. If I wanted to spend the bucks, I could have had a serious motocrosser.
Banshee:
Great for dunes, dirt roads, and some MX, but will cost more in the long run because of two cylinders. I found a cherry '96 for $100 less than what I bought the R for, and it doesn't need anything (at least until I want pipes).
They both are a blast, and neither one is perfect (trust me, from everything I read you would think the 250R could walk on water and raise the dead, but comparing stock to stock they each have good points and bad points, still nothing major). So whichever way you go, you should have fun.
