Can I change the rear rim from a 8x8 to a 10x8. I want to make it a lower profile. Can a larger rim work with the stock hubs, and if so will it change the handling at all?

you can change the rim size but why 10 inches? the lower profile you go the more chance to have of crushing the rim into a rock also it will change the handling as the tire will roll less into the corners causeing a stiffer handling in the turns by roll i mean the tire gives when you turn making the turn smoother and less harsh on you the bigger the rim the less the roll not to mention it makes finding tires that fit that much harder but n answer to your question yes you can change the rim size without affecting the hub as long as the actual tire size remains the same..

 

I just like the look of a low profile tire. I don't really want to give up any handling.
Do you have any experience with aluminum rims? How easy will they bend?

 

well i feel ya on the look where do you do most of your riding. alum rims dont really bend that much they are either good or they are broken. the itp c series i hear are very good strong rims but i havnt run them yet but i have eyed them up in the quad shop everytime i go to get new stuff for the shee. but as for the handling like i said the lower the profile the more they are going to want to push through the corners. but if your riding the dunes your good. all my riding is in tight wooded trails so i cant afford to give up any inches for prtection rocks come out of no where.

 

I do alot of riding in the trails and in old sand pits. Mostly I just climb hills.
We don't have any dunes up here in Nova Scotia so I can't go there! lol. I do like to slide around and do alot of power slides. Is that the kind of thing that lower profiles will affect?

The ITP C-series are the ones that I am going to order but I don't want to spend the money only for them to bend. Will they bend pretty easy just from hitting rocks?

 

I have been reading that aluminum rims bend easy unless they have rings?? What are they for?

 

its called a reinforcing ring and if im not mistaken the C- series do not have these rings but they are a pretty sturdy rim you should be fine. and the slidding caused by the lower profile tires is not the sliding youll want to be doing your tires wont hold as well in the turns and corners without the tire roll. but for streagnth the c series should be fine

BTW...ITP T-9 Baja has the rings. They have a cool look, but nothing like the C-series.
