Default Polish intake or not?

Local speed shop says they can polish my intake/exhaust ports and cumbustion chamber pretty cheap. Most guys get their work done with them around here. Im worried about touching the intake since the roughness helps mix the air/fuel. Should I just polish the exhaust port and the bottom of the head? Im thinking about just getting the exhaust and the bottom of the head done. Any input?

If they said polish the intake and actually mean polish, not port, I don't think I would have them do any of it. Yournot going to gain that much by just having them polish the exhaust, and if your going to enough trouble to pull the head you might as well wait to get it all done.

Ward-the shop ment just polish, no porting. But they will get rid of some bumps from the casting on both the intake/exhaust. They will just not be polishing the intake. So for around $100 they are gonna get rid of some bumps on the intake and exhaust ports, polish the exhaust and combustion chambers. I think its a pretty good deal.

you could probably polish the exhaust ports and removing the casting flaws by yourself though. I wouldn't pay $100 for a shop to remove some casting flaws. I would save for a full port job.

If you are going to pay them to clean up the castings, then you might as well port it if you want it ported. You dont polish an intake.
