Default welded 686 head

finally got the head welded up today, after drilling into two water ports to get a good backfill on the weld. now I just got to have pat finish up the porting and get the valves back in to it, maybe do a little work on the water ports, as of now they are welded closed and water wont flow between them. dont think this will make a noticable hot spot or not so havent decided if I will machine a good runner between them. anyway need to get it together to see if everything is going to hold under heat and pressure, hope there arent any pin holes I cant see, but still need to check it after porting anyway. Should have it running soon.

uuhhh nope!!! dont like the end result on the weld job, it still leaks. oh well time to cut it loose and start over with a fresh head. Hope to have it going in two weeks. I'll keep it posted.

This time don't go as agressive on the porting as more is not better especially on a 4 stroke, just make everthing flow nicely down towards the valves, just imagine it was it was flowing water instead off air and look for areas that could use improvement.

that is the plan maybe just a touch more, but not nearly as agressive this time.

Good luck and hope it comes out good, and remember even opening with smooth passages give more air velocity, so keep thing symmetrical.
