I find it comforting that the Honda riders are all scrambling about for this new 440 kit showed in ATV Sport this last issue. Granted the numbers DID show that it is a second faster in both 0-30 and 0-60 but we all know how variables and that can change stuff yada yada yada.....But anyways for all you future Raptor owners like myself its too bad that a STOCK bike can still hang with a fully moded out 400ex isnt it? Box of tissues for the 400ex's when mods for the ol Raptor start coming out huh?
And for everyone out there im not looking for a flame post in reply just relating my opinion. Although I do agree a 400ex IS a really good MX bike im just saying the drag results are looking good!

Fully modified 400ex's will pump out about 44-45? HP, while the stock Raptor probably has about 50HP (Remember, the Raptor ads from Yamaha state that it is the most powerful ATV in the world and the DS650 has about 50HP, right?). When the aftermarket get's up to speed on the Raptor, the horsepower numbers will increase to a point where the DS will be the only potential contender.

I wouldn't count out the Banshee. An even slightly modded Banshee is pretty damn fast.

The raptor has 260cc on the ex! 220 on a modified ex and you think it's to bad a modified 400 won't keep up with a 660. Yeah it's also a shame that my nephews quadrunner 50 won't keep up to my 250r!!! After all thats about the same cc handicap!!

No not counting out the Banshee....To be completely honest I dunno if the Banshee will EVER take a back seat! ROFL But mod's you have to admit can go into a whole other argument! =-)

Hello Gary,

I agree with what you just said about the 400EX. It is an excellent bike, but to me, the biggest lack about it is that it doesn't have reverse, that is one of the many reasons why I'm switching to the all new Yamaha Raptor. Like yourself, I have one on order and I expect it in September sometime. Good luck with your Raptor

I agree about the mods debate. Did you see this websites review? They said the stock Raptor & stock Banshee were basically even. Maybe the Raptor wasn't broke in or something????
