Default THIS IS YOUR FATHER SPEAKING...

I just want all you to know that this forum is one of the most helpful , and fun tools that I have ever used for making this sport the best it can be. But...

We can all get caught up in going fast and making our quads faster ( as I do myself ). We also have to remember how to ride safe and not to ride beyond our abilities. So we can ride another day.

The reason I bring this up is that yesterday my V was pretty much destroyed by my son who, in my opinon is a very good rider, one of the best for his age. The crash site was level, no rocks abosolutly nothing( my grandmother could ride there with her eyes closed). He was riding with his brother and looked back to see if he[brother] was still behind him. You all know how it is when we ride with others, and you always watch the guy behind you from time to time. Well in that split second he veered of the road and towards a fence, overcorrected and rolled. It really wasn't that fast of a crash, all the same the bike rolled over him and landed on it's wheels. Luck be it, my son emerged with only small cuts and bruises and the thought of coming home and telling me.( not good). I have made one payment on my V so you can get the picture. The point of the matter being...

You can still ride hard and take it to the limit, as I know some of you do or will. But remember sometimes it's the little things that get us. Don't over look these little things They will bite you on your *** sooner or later. I've taught my sons from a early age to wear their protective equipment. I'm glad my son listened to me. Ok, now that I'm finished with what I have to say, "Lets get on our bikes and "PIN IT" "

Thanks Dad! Can I borrow the car keys tonight?

Seriously though, good post, nothing wrong with reminding folks about common sense.

Hey Scottyjay (Dad) can I borrow some money, I need to buy a new suspension, and some carbs... I promise I'll pay you back, you can take it out of my allowance!

No, seriously, you have a very good point here, I am sorry to hear about your V, and I am glad your son escaped with only minor bruises/cuts. I have seen pretty bad accidents caused by "little things" and this is a good reminder to us all.
