Wolverine VS Bruin
#3
I did look at yamahas site.
I guess i am just not as lucky and knowlegeable as someone such as yourself. I noticed:
same bore and stroke;
Same compression ratio;
Slightly different carbs?;
full time fwd vs push button;
Both electric start;
540 lbs vs 477
etc etc etc...
I may be just stupid however i thought asking people that actually own these machines may have better insight then just some tech specs..
Thx

Hey, I have a wolverine and the difference is that the wolverine is more sportier and the bruin is more of a work quad . The wolverine is 5sd and the bruin is automatic and thats a big difference.
04 Wolverine
Super Trapp ids 2
dyno jets
twin air power intake
moose fullc skids/handguards

I love the wolverine. I'm sure it will out perform the bruin in most every category with the obvious utility functions excluded. It has good mid range power. It wheelies great and jumps easy. The suspension does better at a faster pace. The wolverine does need a 2wd option. You can purchase an aftermarket unlocker for about $200 if you really want it.
I do have to say that the wolverine will get you dirty due to the small fenders. I've never been on a bruin but I'm sure it has much better mud protection. Also first gear on the wolverine is a bit too high. This would be a problem if you wanted to install larger mud tires. Other than the above mentioned, I think it is an awesome bike.

yes the Warn 424 select is the best 200 bucks you can spend pretty much right off the bat. I have seen some dealers installing them in the showroom. If you want to go larger tires, do exaust and intake and it will offset most 25 inch tires. The wolverine is a great all around machine and if you get tired of things it has plenty of room for modification and advancement because of its linked engine to the warrior and the time its been around. Everything from lots of skidplate options to numerous exaust systems to choose from (any warrior or wolverine exaust fits on the woverine), to airbox mods, to fully manual clutch kits, lockers, larger tires, handguards and bars, High compression pistons, porting, cam changes, valve spring replacement, to 446cc kit from Four Stroke Tech are all currently available. It allows you the fun of sport riding and sport modification while still full capable of utility work and rompin in the mud with the big boys. Much better clearance then sport bikes too. As for its utility,
at the time i was just running FMF megamax and filter, stock tires and when my quadzilla broke down about a mile and a half int he woods, with my friend sitting on the zilla steering it who weights over 210lbs and me on my wolverine driving we towed the zilla out of the woods and along the muddy rutted powerlines without a peep from the 350. He coudldnt belive it made it the whole way without him having to get off and push or at least walk next to it and ligten the load. When you need it it has plenty of grunt for most situations that are utility based
