does anyone know how to tune the pipe by adding or removing the discs and how it will affect performance?
the IDS site said that adding/removing discs affects the powercurve but it never said how to tune it......help anyone..

 

the more disks you add the larger the exhaust outlet and this causes less back pressure and more noise and more jetting will be required to add more power but you can go to far....so every ATV has the right combo depending on jetting, carburation and air intake.

 

Adding disks = Higher Top end performance = Louder = less low end torque

Removing disks = Lower Top end performance = Quieter = more low end torque

What you have to do is determine is where in the above you want to be. I am positive that the manual states there is a minimum and a maximum number of recommended disks, so anything in between is ok.

What they can also be meaning is that you can change the number of disks in order to compensate for temp/altitude changes. These changes affect your jetting. By changing the number of disks, you in effect, change the jetting as well.

I suggest you determine whether you want low end grunt, high end rev-ability, or somewhere in the middle. Then, set your disks accordingly. Finally, rejet for the new setup.

While adding / removing disks is easier than jetting, it is not quite as accurate.
