GRIZZLY or KODIAK?
#1
I'm about to buy the kodiak 450 auto 4x4 and i was wondering how much i'm loosing by not going with the 660. I will be using it for hunting and riding on old logging roads and will keep it in good condition. If anyone likes a different atv better please let me know. Is there much differane between the 660 & 450 for what i will be using it for? Will the 660 fit in the back of a f-150 short bed. I see a few people are having a problem with the shifter on the auto. Is it a problem on the 2004 kodiak? Should i wait for the 2005? THANKS for your help

Speed dude, thats about it. Sure the independant has its quirks, but the Kodiak 450 (with its locker) will follow the 660 anywhere you want to go. When it comes down to the absolute difference between owning these 2 quads, its speed. The Grizzly is faster, bottom line. If you aren't worried about that, get the Kodiak. Its a good quad. If you want to run fast, go with the Grizz. And for the record, I doubt the Kodiak is slow by any means.

As for the kodiak going everywhere that the grizzly goes, I wouldn't get my hopes up. The extra ground clearance gives it an advantage in deep mud and snow. I ride with a couple of guys with 450's in the muskeg and they just can't go as far as we can. The kodiak is more than capable so for what you are using it for it would be a good choice. Depending on what kind of animals you hunt (moose, deer), the grizzly is a better choise for hauling out large game because of the added power and weight. The grizz has an awesome ride also.

Rider is everything. I watch guys on Rubicons go up stuff I won't go. I'm sure my Grizzly has just as good a chance at making it up, but I'm not risking totalling the quad to find out. Sure in some deep mud or something, the IRS will have its advantages, but you can follow the grizzly with a 300 honda 4x4 in about 99% of situations, and because of the light weight, you can actually do more with it. Don't let the size fool you dude. The locker has its high points, but a Kodiak has that too.
Speed is the #1 factor between these two. The rest is very very miniscule as far as following somebody else goes.
