Default banshee too fast

I want to buy a 99' banshee because i found a really good deal on one but my dad thinks it's too fast and i am 17. Is their any way i can slow it down? I know their are rev limiters on little mini quads, would their be anything like that for a clutch powered atv??
thanks for any feedback,
Marcus

A stock banshee?

Stock Banshees are not that fast at all. And your 17? If your dads that afraid than maybe you should get a Warrior or a 300ex. Not like your 13 or something. You can get hurt on anything. Its the point of respecting what your ride and dont do dumbs things. I have seen people get seriously hurt on 250 Beartrackers. Bearly run 48 or 50. So no matter what you get if you act like a fool than bad things will happen eventually. If this is your first bike i wouldnt suggest a Banshee. A good starter bike is a Warrior!

One of the worst crashes I ever had was on a 50cc dirtbike. I have a pretty trick banshee and I have wrecked it but I hear I get pretty crazy on them. You know 90mph wheelie's and stuff and oh yeah, jumping stuff that has no business being jumped. Anyway, show him the screw and crank it in and let him ride it. When you get on it let it out so you can rip and everybodys happy.

A stock banshee isnt fast??? Maybe you've spent too much time on modified machines to remember how fast the banshee is in relation to the majority of other sport quads. Its still faster than any 4 stroke under 439cc stock and will blow away warriors, 300/400ex's, and the like. Its a fast machine for those who have spent their life growing up on smaller sports, utilities, or no atv at all.

The truth is you can get hurt on any atv. But when you have an atv that exceeds your limits, you have to be extremely careful not to allow yourself to exceed them.

If you're not an experienced rider then you really should not buy it yet. You need to be really on top of things with it, have a great amount of experience, and have the open space for riding it. I have both a banshee and a 400ex, and the 400ex is night and day compared to the banshee, the banshee just wants to fly.

Yes, I know how to slow it down for your learning curve. Install an aftermarket rev limiter set to about 5500 rpms (not a high dollar CDI, just the lil box that can go on any ignition). Voula, you now have a large blaster.

The banshee doesnt really get into the powerband until it hits that range so that would be a waste of time.
