Front or Back Sprocket?
#1
Does anyone know which would be better for tight woods trails? I'm thinkin of going down one tooth on the front. I have also heard peaple say going down on the rear sprocket any pros and cons i should be aware of? I ride alot of woods and steep hills. i like the tight trails as well. Would like to get a lil more grunt out of the lower gears am i thinkin the right way on this?

you got told wrong. down in the front increases bottom end, down in the back gives more MPH but you loose out of the hole power. but they are right above, go to a 12 tooth front, it's easy cheap and wont interfere with your skid plate like going up on the rear can.

Wouldn't going down on the front make 1st gear all but useless? I would think go up a tooth and, make 1st gear more usable would be better. Almost everyone starts in 2nd in drags anyway? Am i thinking wrong?

well it really depends on his tire size, I would think he woul be running 22's for tight woods trails, so 12 on the front would be good for that setup, lots of usable bottom end in 1st-3rd where he needes it. not going to get much top end in tight woods so he needs more at the bottom. If he is running a mostly stock bike including tires then 12 is still good, he wont have so much power that it make first usless.

i run a 12t and 22" rear tires,,,on the raptor,,and I am thinking of going 2 teeth larger in the rear to drop the gearing a little lower even
