I am going 2 buy a 400 ex,i know this is a yamaha form, but i would like an out siders oppinion, i also posted this on the honda one but i thaught they might forget the cons [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] . I would like to know everything about it, how fast it goes, what its good at what it's bad at, any mechanical problems how dose it react to conditions, dose it need to be tuned up a lot, dose it respond well to mods? I now have a 2000 warrior, what will I find different.

They may have left out some cons on the red forum, but you're not likely to hear too many pros on this side of things.....

 

Personally it think it is over rated, but there is a ton of aftermarket mods for it and in the deep woods of WV no reverse sux.

 

just get the trx 450r if your going to mod out the 400 ex if not i would still get the 450r just a better bike in my opion

 

400ex is a great machine, responds well to mods, a good "put gas in and ride machine" with very few maintenance issues besides oil changes and fresh air filters.
A whole lot more fun to ride than a Warrior, with a lot more stock power to start with as well.

 

there good quads but there prone to boredom.. little bit too weak for my likings. however these quads have been proven to be bulletproof

if you are competitive, get something a little bigger/faster

 

The 400ex is the worst 400cc quad. Z400 is faster than it and z has reverse. Kfx aswell... Get a Z
But the 400ex is cheaper.... Whatever u can afford rele. Ex is still a great quad jus not as fast as others 400's.

 

I would not say the 400ex is the worst 400cc quad just because it is 2 or 3 hp less than a z400. There are plenty of mods available for it, and yes it responds well to them. It handles just as good as a z400 or kfx. But with that said, I would wait and see what the 2005 z400s are like. They are supposed to have more power, less weight, and better suspension.
