HOW TO PUT A CHAIN ON A RAPTOR??
#3
my stock raptor chain came solid - no master link. to get it off you have to either cut it with a dremel tool, press out a pin with a chain press, or take off the whole swingarm. Any new aftermarket chain will come with a master link.

if its a simple job give me a simple answer. if the chain had a master link it would be no big deal
hell its not a big deal now. ive never had a non master link chain before but i like to ask a question when i dont know or if im not sure about something.

What kind of chain did you buy? I just bought a primary drive X ring chain and it came with a master link. I just cut the stocker off with a cut off wheel and put the new one on. If you have a solid chain, your either going to have to take of the swing arm. Or buy a chain press and a master link.

If you buy a chain and it doesn't come with a master link, take it back to wal mart. Every single aftermarket chain Ive ever seen comes with a master link. You can buy REPLACEMENT master links, but a good chain will come with one.

It is common for new bikes/quads to come with a solid chain. Most of the posts above this have it covered. If you do not have a chain press. The easiest way to go about it is with a dremel tool and a cut off wheel. Grind the nubs off the front of the plate. Use a screw driver to pry off the plate and the chain should just fall apart.
I have seen no downfalls over the years with running master links as opposed to a solid chain. I have even ran two master links in the same chain when experimenting with sprocket sizes.
....Though on a another note.....If you decide to remove the chain by removing the swing arm. It gives you a good excuse to regrease the front swingarm at the same time. Especially if you have never had it apart yet.
Make sure you inspect the sprockets for cupping or any signs of chipped or missing teeth. A damaged sprocket will tear up a new chain in no time.
