Default Kodiak 450 a quiet machine?

Looking for a 400 to 500cc auto 4x4 utility quad that can sneak quietly through the woods. I like the '05 Kodiak the best overall, but others are good as well. The '05 Kodiak 450 gets the edge for me because of the IRS. I have a bad back and IRS should help.

The final determining factor is the noise factor. How does the Kodiak compare with others such as Eiger, Vinson, Rubicon and Rancher.

Default Kodiak 450 a quiet machine?

Hello and welcome to atv connection. I have an 02 Kodiak and love it. I do use it for hunting ducks, rabbit and partridge. The automatic transmission is awesome.........always in the right gear. At slow speeds I have been able get as close as 6 ft from a rabbit. And the gentle sound of the engine has even made partridge walk out on the trail. So over all I am very happy with my Kodiak for hunting. I think that the IRS and Diff lock on the 450 will just sweeten the deal. I am not able to compare it to the other atvs because I've never had the chance to hunt with any of them.

Hope this helps.

That sounds good. I hear that the Rubicon and Ricon are quieter. But the Kodiak has other features that I prefer.

If my memory serves me correct I believe that this site had an article about that a few months ago. Have a look in the archives and you should be able to get a link on the subject.

my dad has a 2003 kodiak 450. i put 7500km or 6000 m on it, in 9 months. i drove that thing over trees, in ditches, 3 feet of snow, mud, etc..... and it is still running strong. the only problem was the axle bearing went '' from jumping '' and the bolt that holds the motor mount came out, because it wasn't torked in enough. we put a set of dirt devils and a warn winch on it. it is now '' unstop able '' , or pretty close to.

i know thats alot not to many people believe me when i say that, but it's true. one of the stupid things about a kodiak, is that the speedometer cable is hooked up in the trany, so when the back wheels spin it puts more miles on it. the kodiak is avery reliable machine and in 2004 they came out with over drive.
