Raptor Skid Plates??
#1
Hello everyone,
I'm about to buy a '04 Raptor, and I'm wanting to know what the beefiest, strongest, thickest set of skid plates are? The best I've found are either DG performance fat series, or the PRM 1/4" skids? Does anyone know which is better or if there's another better brand out there?

you go and get the thickest baddest skids and you will also have the slowest raptor on the block cause that stuff is heavy.
I use the GYT-R skids and they r plenty thick for me, almost too thick and heavy
rear swing arm is most important and i like the 1 I have....other skids, havent really formed an opinion yet, if they r worth even having or not

I'm not really concerned with speed, weight or any of that. What I'm concerned with is the most solid protection I can find. So, does anyone recommend anyone else or have nay opinions on this subject?

DG fat series skid plate for your swingarm is the way to go, I have one and ride at Paragon Adventure Park in PA ( very rocky!) and it has taken one hell of a beating! Some of the scratches in it are 1/8" deep and it has never bent. A word of advsie however, you have got to be doing something insane to need a 1/4" full chassis skid plate! as for A-Arm gaurds I have them but more as a precaution than anything else. The wieght you add to your raptor is never good but adding it down low will help a little with the raptors ever willingness to want to roll over.
Whichever ones you chose install all the hardware with blue loctite, bashing and vibration will work them loose on you otherwise and you will end up breaking a bolt off in your swingarm, trust me that sucks! Hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the DG skids, but they are so much more money than the PRM's, I just don't know if I can justify spending the extra money. Noone that I'm aware of makes a 1/4" belly skid, just 3/16". PRM makes 3/16" skids for the entire underside, and I'm thinking about going that route, unless I find a reason to spend more money for the DG's?
