Well you can see if theres any more room to unscrew the throttle limiter screw on your rap, I believe the limit is 12mm though (lets you open the throttle slightly further, if its set low enough, unscrewing it will let you rev a little bit higher). You can do somehthing with the suspension linkage too, I dont know the details but from what I gather you turn it around and then you get the same travel with a lower ride, not that that has anything to do with your speed quenching. TIDBITS!

....speed up.... well, if you take off your heel guards and shave your fenders you might gain .091283 mph on top end! (not that its not worth it, I personally think it looks awesome like that)

I would say that we have gotten off topic here.

First off UNCORK the beast...get an exhaust...YOSHI, GYTR CT Sparks...blah blah blah...there are many many posts on which pipe is good but i tend to stick with the best

Then get a Prodesign Proflow Intake kit with the K&N if u ride sand...Proflow foam if u ride dirt...or just stick to the kandn and use an outterwear. There are other mods u can do to the airbox but gains will be minimum 2-4 at most...

JET IT!!!! MORE AIR MORE FUEL MORE AIR MORE FUEL........................

Cams...dont go into ur motor until ur ready to bust out some money...pisons cams valve springs con rod the WORKS BASICALLY!!!

Few cams produce a whole lot of power past ur main powerband which is really around 6500 depending on the type of exhaust u have...headers tend to affect ur rpm range some as to when the power "comes on"...

Reving higher can actually hurt u, you are not going to be making more power or pulling anymore...you need TORQUE AND HP not high revs, CDI Boxes and rev limiters do next to nothing, and are only good as in like the DYNA FS if your going to retard your timeing or run nitrous....

Pistons, stick to Wiseco or JE...usually a high compression piston that will be used in either a 686, 690, 727, 730, 780...ect... "Kits" for raptors.

just STICK TO YOUR BOLTONS FIRST!!!

Changing gearing is always a good idea. BUT Often times only if you go lower in the front like to a 12 or highter in the rear to like a 42 it tends to be a 1:3 ratio 1 in the front = 3 in the rear. I dont really suggest gearing it higher such as a 14 or 15 in the front unless u have a built motor, only because you cannot pull any higher at your 5th gear rev limitor...u simply wont have enough power....and you will have a jack $hit for acceleration!

Hope this helps...

On my first setup I had a GYTR carbon fiber slip-on, gytr adaptor and k&n, stage 1 hot cam, and a jet kit. The difference over stock is ALOT! I think almost any system is way better than stock. The big brands all work just in little different ranges. Go with the bolt ons first. Once you open to go into the engine besides a small camshaft the gains per dollar vs bolt ons get smaller.
example $700.00 (pipe, jets, intake, possibly camshaft) = aprox 10hp gain
or $3000.00 (big cam , valves, springs, portwork, rod ,piston, fcr carbs, and all the misc stuff for a good rebuild)= apox 10 more hp.

i switched the rear linkage..... and it is way better than the way yamaha has the raptor set up....... u cant accelerate worth anything with the stock way. i have it flipped and the back end sits about 2 or 3 inches lower, and handling wise..... it is a dream now, i can easily holeshot in 2nd gear and the front end doesnt come up like the raptors are notorious for. i would say flip it..... takes like 20 minutes tops..... take off rear skid plate... and then u remove like 3 bolts and there ya have it.

they do sell those inline coolers for like 10 bucks. most people say they dont do anything for performance.... which they dont really, but i have one and it keeps my temps like 10 or so degrees cooler....... my fan always used to come on..... and now it rarely ever comes on considering i cna only ride my raptor in 100 degree wether, so i know that they do what they are made to do. sorry such a long post..... but oh well

glad to help a fellow raptor owner
